From one emergency computer repair to a trusted regional technology support company, Tech 2U grew by staying focused on service, clarity, and doing the right thing.

Tech 2U History
John and Todd open the first Sacramento shop, marking a major growth milestone.
John and Todd, two ambitious entrepreneurs, met while attending California State University Sacramento. John majored in Business Marketing, Todd in Computer Science. They quickly became great friends, and have been ever since.
A few years after graduating, each had their own successful career in their respective fields. In the Spring of 2003, John called Todd in panic because his computer crashed and would not restart. John, a successful Realtor at the time, thought he had lost all his client data.
Todd came over to John's within a couple of hours and fixed the issue in a matter of minutes, saving the day.

The Idea
Crash became a recognizable symbol of the friendly, approachable Tech 2U brand.
"I can't be the ONLY person with this problem...can I??"
Todd assured John that he was not alone and explained that he helps people with technology challenges every day in his career as an IT Manager.
They discovered that just like he did for John, Todd could provide technical support to help people at their home or business. At that moment the two decided to go into business together, and Tech 2U was born.
Tech 2U's beginnings were humble. John placed a simple ad in the newspaper, and Todd used his personal vehicle in his spare time to help people with their computers in their homes.

Growing Culture
The company culture scaled with growth, while preserving customer-first service values.
It soon became clear that the demand for this kind of in-home service was huge, and Todd would commit to working for the business full time while John provided the marketing muscle.
We make ourselves available 7 days a week, 12 hours a day from 8 AM to 8 PM.
From day one, Todd and John had an unparalleled commitment to their customers and wanted to offer them the best service possible.
For starters, they introduced innovative, transparent, flat rate pricing while everyone else charged by the hour. Todd was technically proficient and could repair virtually any computer problem, but also possessed a talent for relating to customers in a language they could understand, not "tech talk."

Leadership
Leadership continues to guide expansion while protecting the mission and service standards.
Technical proficiency, superior customer service, and providing the best value became the recipe for Tech 2U's success. With this winning formula, Tech 2U grew from just two fresh-out-of-college friends to over 100 employees across three major cities in California and Nevada.
Now Tech 2U not only offers superior in-home service from experienced, friendly technicians with a fleet of vehicles, but also has several convenient store locations. It also offers remote repair service and support, where a technician can repair a customer's computer without them having to bring it in, or a technician going to them.
Beyond its traditional service and repair business, Tech 2U has a Managed Services division that exclusively serves small and mid-sized businesses, offering ongoing monthly IT support, network design and builds, cyber-security consulting, and much more.
Tech 2U will strive to deliver superior technical services from a professional and friendly staff, while maintaining our principles of credibility, accountability, and customer service as we grow.

From a simple idea in 2003 to a multi-region support team, each milestone reflects steady growth, better service, and a stronger commitment to customers.
2003
Tech Services 2U launches after helping local residents recover from everyday tech failures.
2005
Demand surges, Todd joins full time, and the company hires its first employee.
2006
Tech 2U moves into Carmichael office space with eight employees and begins serving Las Vegas.
2008
Tech 2U opens its first shop location in Sacramento to serve customers in person.
2009
The first Las Vegas retail shop opens, extending in-person support in Nevada.
2011
San Diego expansion begins and managed services are introduced for business clients.
2014
A new Roseville shop opens to support more families and small businesses.
2015
Digital services are added to support clients with websites, online presence, and growth strategy.
2017
Tech 2U acquires Solano Computer Guy and My Wire Guy, adding Rocklin and Vacaville shops.
2018
Acquisitions in San Diego add three additional shops and broaden coverage.
2021
TLC Computer Solutions joins Tech 2U, adding a second Las Vegas area location.
2022
A local web development team launches for business clients.
2024
Our web team expands to offer custom web application solutions to clients.
Today
